Black or brown patches
A black or brown patch on the tongue can look scary, but most of the time it’s just a sign of poor hygiene, smoking, or drinking a lot of coffee or black tea. As a result, bad breath and dysgeusia (difficulty perceiving taste) may occur.
The first thing you should do is to give up bad habits that cause plaque and brush not only your teeth but also your tongue every day.
Lots of vitiligo
White patches very similar to cottage cheese are a sign of a yeast infection or candidiasis.
This plaque occurs when Candida albicans overgrowth and consists of yeast present in a healthy person’s mouth. The reasons for this can vary: taking antibiotics, diabetes, a weakened immune system, or high blood pressure. Consultation with a doctor is recommended.
