Although chia seeds are marketed as a superfood for their high omega-3 content, no evidence has been found for their health benefits, especially cardiovascular benefits. The omega-3s in chia seeds are harder to absorb than those in salmon, so when you’re consuming more chia seeds, you’ll need to eat about 100 grams of chia seeds to get the same amount as fish. Here’s the key: 100 grams of chia seeds contain about 500 calories, roughly the equivalent of a fast-food burger.
